24/7 Intensive Care

At New Leaf Detox, our 24/7 intensive care begins with medically supervised detox to help patients safely manage withdrawal symptoms. Our licensed medical team provides around-the-clock monitoring and medication-assisted treatment when needed to ensure a safe and comfortable start to recovery.

After detox, clients enter our residential treatment program, where they receive ongoing support through evidence-based therapies and individualized care plans. Whether you’re facing alcohol addiction, drug dependency, or co-occurring mental health issues, we’re here to support your healing. Substance-Specific Treatment

At New Leaf Detox, we know that no two addictions are alike. That’s why our treatment programs are tailored to address specific substances, including alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, prescription drugs, and other forms of drug addiction. Each detox protocol is medically supervised and designed to safely manage the unique withdrawal symptoms of that substance.

Our residential treatment plans build on this foundation with targeted therapies and personalized support. Whether you’re battling alcohol use disorder, opioid dependence, or stimulant addiction, our team is equipped to help. Review our substance-specific treatment programs and see which care fits you.

Detox is the first step in sobriety. The detoxification process typically lasts 3 to 9 days depending on the user’s drug of choice and their degree of chemical dependency. While a medically supervised detox is a rather short process, it can be the most dangerous and uncomfortable step in recovery. A drug detox involves withdrawal symptoms that range from mild to severe. The goal of our detox center in Southern California is to make this process as safe and comfortable as possible to give our patients the best chance at a successful recovery.

After Detox, our patients build the recovery life skills necessary to deal with the temptation to use drugs and alcohol. Patients at our inpatient rehab and detox center in Laguna Niguel receive a range of therapeutic services, and we welcome clients from across Southern California, Orange County and San Juan Capistrano. Our residential treatment center is LGBTQ friendly, accepts veterans, and provides group therapy as well as inpatient care.

These evidence-based, behavioral, mental health and psychological services help our patients see their addictions at the core and give them the skills they need to avoid making mistakes that lead to relapse. Call (866) 932-0905 for the full details on our rehab serving Southern California and Laguna Niguel.

Dual Diagnosis treatment helps those who struggle with mental illnesses as well as Substance Use Disorders. Oftentimes, drug and alcohol addiction is a way for people to attempt to self-medicate an undiagnosed or untreated mental health disorder like depression, anxiety, bipolar, or OCD.

As our patients open up to staff and therapists, we are able to diagnose and treat the underlying issues that keep our patients clinging to addictive substances to cope with their daily struggles.

Levels of Care at Our Detox Center in Orange County, CA

Addiction care is a sequence, not a single program. Where you start depends on the medical risk your withdrawal carries and how much structure you need after it passes. New Leaf delivers the residential end of that sequence in Laguna Niguel and connects you with the step-down levels.

Level of Care

What Happens

Delivered by New Leaf

Medical Detox

24-hour nurse monitoring, withdrawal medication, scheduled vital signs

Yes, on site

Residential Rehab

Live-in treatment, daily therapy, structured days

Yes, on site

Dual Diagnosis Care

Psychiatric assessment and treatment run alongside addiction care

Yes, on site

Partial Hospitalization (PHP)

Full treatment days, you sleep off site

No, we refer you to a PHP provider

Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

A few sessions each week, around work or school

No, we connect you with an IOP provider

Sober Living

Structured substance-free housing after treatment

No, we help you transition to a partner house

The top three rows happen under our own clinical team. The bottom three do not, and we say so plainly: the wrong level at the wrong moment is a common reason a first attempt at sobriety comes apart. Level definitions follow American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria. Detail sits on our medical detox, drug rehab, dual diagnosis and addiction aftercare pages.

Who Our Orange County Detox Program Is For

Detox is not the right first step for everyone, and we would rather say so on the phone than after you have packed a bag. Residential detox at New Leaf fits people whose withdrawal carries medical risk, or whose home makes stopping impossible.

That usually means one or more of these:

  • You drink daily, or your hands shake in the morning until you drink
  • You take opioids or benzodiazepines daily and cannot go 24 hours without them
  • A previous attempt at home ended in a seizure, an emergency room visit, or a return to using
  • You are managing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder or PTSD alongside substance use
  • Stopping where you live would put you back in front of the people or the supply you want to leave

If some of that describes you, do not attempt it alone – our page on the dangers of detoxing at home sets out what goes wrong.

Tailored, Evidence-Based Treatments

At New Leaf Detox, we use evidence-based therapies tailored to each individual’s mental health and substance use needs. From cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to family therapy and group counseling, our clinical team develops personalized plans that target the root causes of addiction.

These therapies are delivered in a supportive, structured environment where healing can truly begin. Whether you’re dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, or co-occurring disorders, our approach combines science-backed treatments with compassionate care. How Admissions Works at Our Orange County Detox Center

Our Laguna Niguel center runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so there is no wrong time to call (866) 932-0905. Four steps sit between that call and your first night.

  1. The call. A coordinator asks what you are using, how much, how long, and what happened last time you stopped. Nothing in it goes outside the clinical team.
  2. Benefit verification. We contact your insurer directly and come back with what your plan covers, so you are not on hold.
  3. Clinical review. Our medical team confirms detox is the right level, and flags anything that needs a hospital bed rather than a residential one.
  4. Arrival and intake. You are assessed on arrival, every medication you take is reviewed, and your withdrawal protocol starts the same day.

Bring a photo ID, your insurance card, and every prescription you are on, in its original bottle. Calling for someone else? We walk families through the same four steps.

Insurance and Paying for Detox in Orange County

New Leaf Detox accepts all PPO plans, which can cover up to 100% of treatment costs, including plans from Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare, GEHA and Health Net.

What your policy pays comes down to three things: whether the plan is a PPO, whether detox is judged medically necessary, and how much of this year’s deductible you have met. We check all three before you travel.

Two ways to get an answer:

  • Call (866) 932-0905 and read us the member ID from the front of your card
  • Or send your details through the free verification of benefits form on this page

We tell you what is covered and what is not, including any share you would owe. Plan detail sits on our Aetna and Anthem Blue Cross pages.

Orange County Detox Questions Families Ask

Our Laguna Niguel center is staffed around the clock. Benefit verification is usually the only step between your call and a bed. Call (866) 932-0905 and we can tell you where you stand.

Yes. Psychiatric assessment and treatment run alongside withdrawal management rather than after it, which is what dual diagnosis care means. Depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, OCD and PTSD are treated here.

No. We deliver medical detox, residential treatment and dual diagnosis care on site. For PHP, IOP and sober living we refer you to providers we coordinate with, arranged before you leave.

Yes. New Leaf runs a pet-friendly rehab track, which removes a common reason people put detox off. Tell the coordinator on your first call so it is arranged ahead of arrival.

New Leaf holds California DHCS license 300285AP, valid to 3/31/2028. You can check any California license against the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) register.

No. Detox and residential treatment both run at our Laguna Niguel center, so nobody moves between facilities mid-withdrawal and family stays close by.
